Antelope Valley, Riverside and San Diego

Antelope Valley
I've reached to the final post about our trip. One of my goals for this trip was to see the poppy valleys in bloom. Google Antelope Valley and you see how it could look like. Unfortunately it had been extremely dry so there were no poppies at all although we were there right in the middle of the poppy season.

Antelope Valley
The views were still nice. It's not visible on the photos but the wind was really-really strong. It felt that it will almost blow you away.

Antelope Valley
I guess some dreams must remain for the future. So maybe we should try it once more...

Antelope Valley
We spent the night at Lancaster and in Lancaster itself is really not much to see. There are still two things you could check out if you happen to be around. We had incredibly good sushi for dinner at Saku Saki sushi restaurant. Next morning we checked out Musical Road. It's on West Avenue G. You just drive with your car on a road and the car wheels make the music play as they go over some special road cover. It's really cool and I guess if you don't know to expect it then it can be very surprising.

Riverside
From Lancaster we headed to Riverside. It's very charming town as you can see from the photos.

Riverside
There are old mission buildings that have been turned into fancy spa hotel and restaurant.

Riverside
We had a nice lunch and visited California Museum of Photography. The museum itself was not very big but I really enjoyed seeing about century old photos of the native people in that area.

Riverside
From Riverside we headed to San Diego to see all our friends out there. I don't have much photos about San Diego because we mostly spent time with our friends and on the beach. It was definitely really nice way to end our long drive and relax a bit before heading back home.

Del Mar beach
I hadn't been to US for about 1.5 years. So here's just a short list of things that I had missed about California:

  • Really good sushi in California
  • Mexican food
  • Ahi tuna
  • Eating crabs at special crab restaurants
  • Beaches
  • Happy hours with friends
  • Fresh fruit you can buy from the farmers next to the roads in countryside
